I started the day off by going to the International Food Festival. There were people everywhere with signs, shirts, and brochures declaring that Judgement Day is next Saturday the 21st. I was just happy to know I will still be in New York City on Judgement Day. I wonder what happens to that group on the 22nd?
The food festival was on 9th from 57th to 42nd. So, 15 blocks of food and stuff. I found a Presbyterian church having a garage sale booth at the festival. The good news is the Presbyterians' had a salad plate in one of my many dish patterns for 2.00. I had to have it.
On the corner of 9th and 42nd was a Papaya Dog which Marcie and Leigh Ann recommended. I had 2 dogs and a glass of Mango juice.
I continued down 9th and happened upon the Hell's Kitchen Flea Market. I didn't see anything I "needed", but it was a fun thing to wonder around.
I thought I remembered the movie theater I had been to earlier in the week was on 34th and after walking to 34th I was happy to find it. I got there at 1:58 and "Bridesmaids" started at 2:00. It was cute, funny, and silly.
After the movie, I took the subway to Greenwich Village and after walking 2 blocks I found the restaurant I was looking for. It is one of the restaurants on our tasting tours, Palma. I hadn't been able to quit thinking about the cauliflower dish. I am not that crazy about cauliflower, but this has just the tops of the cauliflower, onions, pine nuts, currents, and olive oil. Yummm!!!!!!
Sunday(today) will not have that interesting of a write up as it is rainy today and I may not do much. I bought some food yesterday, so I can just eat at my apartment.

I love that you hit 2 of my favorite NYC spots on the same day - Papaya Dog and a flea markets! Only you could find a bargain in that place! I was wondering if you had gone to the grocery store yet - they are so tiny - guess you don't really stock up since you have to carry it all home...then up all of those stairs! I"m glad you have been able to pack so much in before the end of the world - although the shirt says it begins next Saturday - no mention of the actual end....
ReplyDeleteI love that you went to Grey's Papaya Dog!!So fun, that is Matthew Perry's favorite place in the movie Fools Rush In.The girls and I went there a couple of years ago and loved it!We love going to places we have seen in movies,we are odd.LOL!
ReplyDeleteThey have that billboard about the end of the world on I-10,on the way to New Orleans !!We have all decided that is why there is so much alcohol here in Louisiana, that billboard is driving people to drink. They sell hard liquor at the Rite-Aid and there are 4 huge aisles at my local grocery. I agree with Marci that it is good you have packed in so much, since the end is near.
I better get going on my list too!!Have fun!
OMG ! Anita, if it is the end of the world is near, we need to get busy down here in Houston.....no time to waste ! Let's duplicate that aspargus thingy when you are back home !.
ReplyDeleteHave fun the rest of the week !
I love the Hell's Kitchen Flea Market! I have bought some interesting jewelry there before and I love all of the junk food there. I think the street fairs in New York are the best! And you don't have to feel guilty about the food climbing all those stairs.
ReplyDeleteOk! I must figure this out!!! A give-away and I am inspired - hahaha! Love the pics and love hearing what you are doing. I've been thinking about you and how fun to see you saw a reminder of me!!!! Love it!
ReplyDeleteThat group predicted the world was going to end before too and then said that their "calculations were wrong." No, I think their brains are. Actually, they might have been right, but I think God just keeps changing the date to spite them. I am not even a hot dog person, but those look yummy!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving all the fun you are having! What great adventures?! Wish I could have stayed longer!! Miss you.
