Another Busy Day

I think I need a vacation or older friends! :)

We started the day by heading to the Seaport where they have a Tkts booth which opens at 11:00. I had never been to that location as I had always gone to Times Square which opens 4 hours later. I assume this means the "better" seats are sold first at the Seaport location. For those who have not been to NYC, the Tkts booth sells 1/2 price theater tickets for performances the day of the event. We got tickets for Billy Elliott.

Then we hurried to hail a cab to Greenwich Village for a walking food tour with tastings. Linda B. told me about these food tours of different villages and I will probably go on, at least, one more before I leave. It wasn't just tasting food from different restaurants that was fun, but the history that our guide knew about the area. Apparently, Greenwich Village used to be farm land - it is hard to imagine. We had pizza, olive oil, a rice ball (itallian style) which was wonderful, a cauliflower dish to die for, a fresh chocolate chip cookie, risotto, asst. meat & cheese, & cheesecake. I learned about some restaurants I plan to try before my time is up.

Next we headed to Park Ave to do a little shopping. While we were in Bloomingdales we were "invited" to have our make-up done. Don't you know that "invitation" cost me something! Then we found a place to have drinks and an appetizer before our show.

Last on our list for the day was to the Theatre District to see "Billy Elliott". All I can say is you do not need to worry about the talent in the next generation! Cute story and the kids were amazing.

We left the apartment at 10:20 and weren't home until 10:45. What a very fun day!

The pictures are all from the tour in Greenwich Village:

Butcher that did Lady Gaga's meat outfit
Beautiful iron work with boot scraper
House with black door is only 9 feet wide and just sold for over 2 million
Carly Simon's house (guide didn't know if she still owned it)
The supposed apartment of "Friends" tv show
Beautiful gated courtyard
